Commonly called Bracken, this species of fern needs full sun to partial shade and little to regular water to perform well. Take care when planting these in your garden or landscape, as the fronds are poisonous if ingested, and the fiddleheads are carcinogenic. These ferns usually house themselves in open forested areas or disturbed areas. Fronds reach 2-7 feet tall and are intricately divided. It is found all over the world, but is not necessarily recommended for formal gardens, because it is difficult to eradicate once it makes itself at home.
