Cleretum
( ??? )
At-A-Glance InformationThe genus Cleretum includes 13 species, only one of which is commonly cultivated. Plants are native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. Previously, the species Cleretum bellidiforme was a member of the genus Dorotheanthus, and is commonly known as the Livingstone Daisy or Buck Bay Vygie. These plants are winter-growing annuals with green to slightly maroon leaves that are flat and rounded at their tips. Flowers open in bright sunlight, and are closed at night and on cloudier days. These plants typically form stout groundcovers, and can reach up to 10 inches tall when mature and in bloom. Use these plants in rock gardens, xeriscapes, as groundcovers, or grow them in containers.
