At-A-Glance InformationCommonly called Bells of Ireland or Shellflower, this species of flowering herbaceous annual needs full sun and regular water. This plant is native to the Middle East, and reaches 2-3 feet tall and 10 inches wide. Flowers are inconspicuous and white, concealed within a bell-shaped calyx. The calyxes are long-lasting in dried and fresh arrangements. Variety 'Pixie Bells' is a compact selection that grows to 20-24 inches tall. Bells of Ireland grows best in zones 1-24, H1 and H2.
