At-A-Glance InformationAlso known under the botanical name Reinwardtia trigyns and the common name Yellow Flax, this shrubby perennial plant needs full sun to partial shade and moderate to regular water.. It will reach 3 feet tall and is native to the mountain regions in Pakistan and China. This plant is a profuse bloomer, with yellow flowers that can appear as early as late winter (in mild regions) and fade in fall. Each flower lasts just a day, but is quickly replaced by a new blossom. Leaves are green to greyish green and evergreen. Yellow Flax grows well in zones 8-10, 12-24, H1 and H2. Caring for Reinwardtia indica
Yellow Flax prefers fertile, well-draining soil. The plant can be pinched at branch tips to encourage a bushier, less leggy habit, and mature plants should be cut back hard after blooms fade to keep a compact size.
