Alopecurus pratensis 'Aureus'
( al - oh - pee - KEW - rus )
At-A-Glance InformationCommonly known as Foxtail Grass, this perennial species of grass grows best in partial shade in hot climates, and needs regular water. This is a golden-variegated selection native to Eurasia, and is smaller and less vigorous than the species, getting to 2 feet tall and 1.5 feet wide. Foliage ranges in color depending on how much shade it gets. This species flowers, though the blooms should be cut off to prevent seedlings from growing. These grow best in zones 2-10, 14-17 and 21-24. To find your zone, click here: Zone Map
