At-A-Glance InformationCommonly called Purple Three-Awn, this perennial grass needs full sun and little to no water. This grass, native to the western United States and Canada as well as northern Mexico, grows to 2.5 feet tall and wide, and provides texture to landscapes. Flowers are silky, nodding and purple-tinted, and reflect light beautifully in late summer and fall. Plants whiten in winter chill, and are great for a flowering accent among boulders or in cactus gardens. This grass grows well in zones 3b-24. To find your zone, click here: Zone Map.
