Clianthus
( klye - ANTH - us )
At-A-Glance InformationThis evergreen shrubby vine is commonly called Parrot Beak, and needs full sun in cooler climates as well as regular waterings. It is native to New Zealand and reaches 12 feet tall and wide. The plant will produce sprays of dark green leaves that hang gracefully from the branches, and bright red sweet-pea shaped flowers that swing down. Flowers will bloom in late spring and early summertime. Seed pods follow the flowers. Varieties that have pink or white flowers are available. Parrot Beak grows best in zones 8, 9, 14-24 and H1.
