At-A-Glance InformationCommonly called Japanese Forest Grass, this species of perennial grass needs full sun in cooler climates and regular water to perform well. This mounding grass reaches 1-3 feet tall and a little wider, spreading slowly via underground runners. Leaves turn copper-orange in fall.

'Aureola'
This is the most commonly grown variety of Japanese Forest Grass, and reaches 14 inches tall. Foliage is green with yellow stripes that take on chartreuse tones in dark shade and creamy yellow tones in full sun. Leaves are sometimes blushed with pink. |
'Benikaze'
This variety has green foliage in summertime, and takes on shades of red when the weather starts to cool in fall. |
