Picture
Commonly called Broom Restio, This species of perennial grass-like plants is native to South Africa and reaches 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide. These plants resemble Horsetail (Equisetum hyemale), and their erect stems hold whorls of long, thin leaves. Flowers are insignificant and bloom in summertime, followed on female plants by silvery, showy seed heads. Great for large pots and along walkways. These plants need full sun to partial shade and moderate waterings to perform well. Broom Restio grows well in zones 14-24 (to find your zone, click here: Zone Map).
