( jack - uh - RAND - uh mih - moe - sih - FOLE - ee - uh )
At-A-Glance Information
This species of deciduous to semi-evergreen trees needs full sun and moderate water. They are native to Brazil, and their flowers attract hummingbirds. They reach 25-40 feet tall and 15-30 feet wide, with a open, oval habit and can be either multi- or single-trunked. Leaves are fern-like, dropping off in late winter, and summertime flowers are lavender-blue and bloom in clusters. When exposed to frost conditions at a young age, they will adapt a shrubby habit. Variety 'Alba' has white flowers. Jacaranda mimosifolia grows best in zones 12, 13, 15-24, H1 and H2. To find your zone, click here: Zone Map.
