At-A-Glance InformationOstrich Fern needs full sun in cooler climates, but can take partial shade in warmer ones. It is a hardy fern, and is native to northern areas in North America, Europe, and Asia. Plants can reach 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide, but may only reach a third to half that size in mountainous or dry regions. These ferns spread via underground rhizomes, and is attractive in woodland gardens, along bodies of water, or in mixed beds. Ostrich Fern grows best in zones A1-A3, 1-10 and 14-17.
