Rehmannia elata
( ray - MAN - nee - uh )
At-A-Glance InformationAlso called Chinese Foxglove, this species of flowering perennial plants looks a bit like Digitalis, but with looser spikes of flowers on a larger plant. Leaves are evergreen in milder climates, and flowers are pink with yellow throats that are dotted with red spots. Flowers bloom from the middle of spring through fall, though in cooler climates bloom begins in summertime. These plants spread via underground root systems to form colonies. They are long-lasting additions to fresh flower arrangements and are easy to grow from seed, root cuttings, or divisions. Chinese Foxglove grows best in zones 5-10 and 12-24.
