At-A-Glance InformationThis species of flowering perennial plant grows from bulb and needs full sun and regular waterings during its growing and blooming periods. It is native to the Andes Mountains in Argentina and Uruguay, and forms a few long leaves and one flower stalk per bulb. Caring for rhodophiala bifidia
Plant these bulbs in masses in fertile, well-draining soil in autumn. Plant the bulbs so that their necks are even with the soil surface and protect them from slugs and snails. Water thoroughly, and keep soil barely moist until the leaves emerge. At this time, increase watering but do not allow the soil to become boggy.
