At-A-Glance InformationCommonly called Rue or Herb-Of-Grace, this flowering perennial needs full sun and moderate to regular water. They reach 2-3 feet tall and wide, and have aromatic, fern-like foliage. Rue is native to southeast Europe, and has small yellow flowers that mature to brown seed capsules. Varieties include 'Jackman's Blue' (with a dense, compact habit and blue-grey foliage), 'Blue Mound' and 'Curly Girl'. Rue grows well in zones 2-24 (To find your zone, click here: Zone Map).

Caring for Ruta Graveolens
Seeds should be sown in flats, and transplanted to 1 foot apart in the garden. Rue requires good garden soil that is not too acidic. The plant can be pruned in early springtime to encourage bushier growth. Seed clusters can be dried as additions to dry arrangements, wreaths and swags.
