St. Augustine's Grass is a coarse perennial grass that spreads by surface runners. Leaves are dark green (brown in dormancy), and must be cut with a mower. It takes a lot of foot traffic and has few pests, but can be invasive. Mow to 1.5-3 inches tall. Variety 'Variegatum' has pale green foliage striped with white.
