Syngonium
( sin- GOH - nee - um )
At-A-Glance InformationThis genus of flowering plants is native to tropical rainforest areas in Mexico, the West Indies, Central and South America. Leaves on these plants change shape and appearance depending on their age; adult leaves are more lobed. On houseplants, which are usually young specimens of the genus, entire leaves are more commonly seen. Take care when bringing these plants into your garden or home, as ingestion of plant parts will cause severe mouth pain when consumed, and coming into contact with plant parts or sap can cause irritation to skin and eyes.
